our STORY

Doc Porter’s was founded in 2014 and operated in Charlotte’s LoSo District until 2020 when the original distillery location was purchased by a developer.

In the months before we closed our distillery (late 2020), we were hand-crafting the final batches of bourbon, rye and malt whiskey BUT they needed time to age. Since these would be our last batches ever, we took our sweet time. We've been patiently waiting, tasting, and determining the perfect blends for our official LAST CALL bottling. As of December 1, 2024, our final bottles are available in Mecklenburg ABC. Go find them while you can!

Follow us on social to get updates on exact bottle locations.

If you’re not in Mecklenburg Co., contact your local ABC and tell them to order it. It’s a special order and they can easily get it for you!

Still can’t find it? Hit us at info@docporters.com and we can help!

Facts about producing grain-to-glass spirits

Facts about producing grain-to-glass spirits

Making beautiful, handmade craft spirits is our passion. Every drop of Doc Porter's is made from scratch using locally-sourced grains from North Carolina.

We believe in integrity and supporting local farmers , which is why we don't re-bottle alcohol produced from the larger manufacturers (Bourbon or Grain Neutral Spirits).

Our spirits are available for purchase NC ABC stores in Mecklenburg County and beyond. With fewer than 24,000 remaining bottles of Doc’s in existence, we’re a special order. If you don’t see it on the shelves of your local ABC, request it!

THE DOC

Doc Porter was the grandfather of our owner and head distiller, Andrew Porter. After serving in the US Navy, he became a radiologist and was a pioneer in his field, working on groundbreaking procedures with radioactive isotopes. He had a love for science, fast cars and his family and when the time came to put a name on the products we are incredibly proud of, his name was the perfect fit.

We lost Doc Porter in 2012 but we know he would be proud of what we've built and would have enjoyed sipping on a namesake cocktail.

The Porters

Andrew and Liz Porter are the husband and wife co-owners of Doc Porter's Distillery. They have two young daughters and love are proud to contribute incredible craft products to the community they love.
